You might feel guilty suggesting a move to a care home

You may be caring for a loved one at the moment and you are finding it harder and harder to manage. Then it may be time for the both of you to consider a move to a care home.

Now this is a very difficult decision to make but it is important for the both of you. It allows you to focus on your own wellbeing and health and allows them to have the care and support they need.

The topic is a very hard one to bring up and it should be done so lightly. Perhaps start the conversation with telling them how you feel. Tell them how you are struggling to provide the care that they need and that you are also struggling to care for yourself.

Your loved one moving into a care home is of course going to change things. But it will make the situation a lot better for the both you. It will allow you both to get the care you need, you can look after yourself while they are supported and cared for.

Every person is different and so how you approach the topic with your loved one is up to you, you know them best. In this situation though, honesty is the best policy.

Be honest with them and yourself. If you cannot manage any more then be honest about it. Caring for someone else full time is a huge responsibility and there is no shame in asking for help.
